Dave has been a respected figure in Somerset football for decades. His playing journey began at just 14 years old when, encouraged by his teacher, he broke into the Street FC men’s squad competing in the Somerset County League. At 18, he represented Somerset FA on tour in Holland, where his performances earned him a short spell with a Dutch club before returning home to Street.

Following a serious leg injury that ultimately led to amputation, Dave turned his focus to coaching — sharing his vast knowledge with both the men’s first team and ladies’ squads. His leadership and commitment to the game saw him serve as Secretary of Street FC for a number of years, before later taking on the same role at Wells City FC.

Dave has been a dedicated member of the Somerset Floodlight Youth League Committee for many years and now proudly serves as the League’s Vice Chairman, continuing to champion youth development and grassroots football across the county.
