Yate Town U18 produced a commanding Roger Stone Cup performance as they defeated Welton Rovers U18 7–0, with an all-around dominant display at Lodge Road.

From the opening exchanges, Yate set the tempo and quickly established control. They played with purpose in possession, moved the ball sharply and pressed with intensity whenever Welton attempted to build. The visitors found themselves under sustained pressure, but their willingness to work, compete and support one another was evident even as Yate began to create chances. Yate’s dominance of possession was matched by the pace and movement of their attacking play. Quick combinations and positive passing repeatedly stretched the Welton defence, while runners from across the side found space in dangerous areas.

Anthony Batt was exceptional in attack and was deservedly the main beneficiary of that collective creativity, showing excellent anticipation and clinical finishing as he converted six of the opportunities Yate produced. There was also a memorable moment for Deondre Walker who recently joined the squad and playing up a year who scored the other Yate goal to register his first for the club. Yate’s superiority was not confined to the final third. They were dominant across the pitch, winning challenges, collecting second balls and dictating the rhythm of the contest. Their defensive work provided a strong platform, while the midfield ensured that attacks could be sustained and Welton were given little time to settle.

Despite the margin, Welton continued to approach the game with admirable commitment. They kept running, challenging and trying to play until the final whistle. Their application never dropped. On an evening when Yate’s quality and efficiency made the difference, Welton’s resilience deserved recognition. The visitors refused to let the scoreline define their effort and continued to contest every phase of play, mustering half chances even until the final moments.

Yate, meanwhile, move to the next round with hope of a decent cup run.
