FULL TIME | Winscombe 1-4 Wells City
A tough first half against a well organised Winscombe side after Wells had won the toss and chose to play up the slope. We started OK but suffered an early blow, losing our influential Minotaur striker and captain Shea Donnelly after just 5 minutes with a Hammy injury!
So, now it was time for the rest of squad to step up. It turned out to be a very even first 44 minutes, but Wells got the breakthrough right on the stroke of half-time, when the quick thinking Max Parfitt improvised with a delightful back-heel, six yards out, to find the net, just out of reach of the keeper, assisted by Caleb Hicks who had replaced Shea up front.
Wells started the second half strongly and doubled the lead, an outrageous pass from the inform sub Caleb Hicks to once again assist Max Parfitt, who finished clinically into the bottom corner for his second. The third came with a wonder strike from Harry MacGrath, 30 yards out and right on the postage stamp.
Wells finished the scoring when Elliot Rogers played a pinpoint pass to put Jude Evans through, who finished with a calm, composed and precise finish.
It was a decent performance and a very pleasing result, especially with the early setback of losing the skipper.
⚽️ Scorers: Max Parfitt x2, Harry Magrath and Jude Evans
Big shout out to new signing Harrison Holmes who made his U18 debut tonight and didn’t look out of place at all.
⭐️ Man of the Match: Caleb Hicks – like a prime Ronaldinho. 💙💙⚽️⚽️
We all wish Shea a speedy recovery 💙
